Recuperating from an Adventure

I'm back people! The trip was to Surabaya-Bromo-Malang-Kota Batu-Surabaya. Jay bought the tickets so long ago I thought the day would never come! We went, we conquered, we tortured ourselves, we did things we never dreamed we would do (in normal or "sane"circumstances) and we survived. Most importantly, we enjoyed ourselves. It truly was an adventure.

I'll be writing about it. And share some tips for you brave souls who might want to take up the challenge. I thought I prepared myself (ok, actually I didn't research enough!), but seemed the preparation was not sufficient. Especially physical preparation. Being fit would have made some of the adventure much more "enduring".

It's going to take some time to tell my story. So, photos first!
Jay bought tickets for 5 but only 3 could make it
Our itinerary was quite packed. After touched down at Juanda Airport we went straight to Madakaripura Waterfall.
We have a bee amongst the roses. Jay's friend we call Pakcik... who happened to be a good and befitting addition to our group.
2nd day - sunrise at Penanjakan.
Then up the mythical Mount Bromo.
Next, the savannah.
Down from Bromo to agrofarm in Malang. There were apples, oranges, strawberries and loads of other fruits!
3rd day - Omah Kayu.
Next, Kampung Warna Warni Jodipan, Malang.
Then, the amazing Museum Angkut
4th day - Pasar Songgoriti before checking out.
Taman Safari Prigen.
Finally, Muzium Sampoerna.

Last day was just resting and packing and a quick stop at Pasar Turi Surabaya. There were a few places that we decided to forgo due to time constraint. It was long weekend in Surabaya due to Good Friday so the roads were pretty jammed.

It was such a memorable trip. Come to think of it, all our trips were memorable! But then - who would have thought we achik-achik would be climbing up Mount Bromo? And actually survived the gruesome 250 steps up to the top, to the rim of the crater? I didn't even imagine this when we bought the tickets more than one year ago. But we did it!

It was truly an eye-opener to the lives and culture of the Indonesian people. Alhamdulillah we met nice and friendly people.

Now, I can almost see the scenery of the majestic mountains around Pananjakan, slowly revealing themselves in the cold misty morning, as the sun leisurely rise in the east... Masyaallah, what an amazing view...
