Presents Lagi...

Spent the weekend at my sister's place. Just for change of air. Berjalan-jalan di Kaison at Paradigm Mall. Just love the place. Many cute things. The aim was to buy presents for 3 birthday boys - Ejat, Along and my Angah.
A whole bunch for them :)

Pre-Birthday Present!

Hubby got a surprise pre-birthday present today. Nope, not from me! Baru malam tadi dia buat research pasal phone tu. Siap tanya - "Boleh belikan this as birthday present? Hehehe...". Adoi, tak mampu lah saya nak belikan Yang ooiii...

Today, he got a call from Maxis saying he's a lucky customer eligible to get a certain gift. Mula-mula dia kata malasnya nak pegi collect. But then since he was outside and the nearest Maxis centre is just in Alamanda, might as well just go. And he got himself - the new Galaxy Note 3! Oh my... what a lucky day. Alhamdulilah, rezeki :)
Happy happy...

Fabian Ni Diva Sangat...

We have 9 cats including 4 kitties. Ever since we lost Kiki (my dearest darling), we don't really keep our cats in the house anymore. They are all kept outside. There is one we call Fabian (sempena cerita House of Anubis yang Aliyah suka sangat dulu) yang perangai sangatlah diva. He believes he's too diva to be around the other cats especially the kitties. Kuat bercakap dan merungut. Selalu merayu kat depan pintu nak masuk dalam rumah. Since he's the only one yang sangat pembersih (asyik mandi menghensemkan diri kerjanya), once in a while we do let him in.

But once dah masuk, cukup susah nak suruh keluar. Macam-macam dia buat. Unless he's really hungry, even goncang bekas food pun dia buat tak tau. I managed to record his antics last night. You can see at the end, he actually pulled the grill back showing he doesn't want to go out!

Seriously...

For the past few weeks, our heads have been filled with ideas for the new venture. We are trying to diversify our business. I, honestly, am so tired with the competition in the IT and training industry. A business should be something you really love to do. While IT and training were the fields I really love, I guess the struggle do wore me out. It's really tiring and time consuming to do proposals and presentations and what-nots and then - the project went to someone else, or project got shelved or some other reasons. Of course if I were to take up certain full-time consultancy work, then life would be financially better. But then, I always remember one of the main reasons why I started my own business years ago - to be around Aliyah. Always. From my quiet talks with her (whenever certain opportunities arise), she still needs me.

We lost an opportunity for a place to start the venture a few weeks ago. Missed just by a few hours. Someone beat us to it. We then scouted for another p…

Happy Birthday to Me...

I'm 42 today. And proud to be. Sometimes memang rasa macam - if only I am a few years younger... But then, a few years younger doesn't give me the experience and knowledge I currently have. So, I am very contented.

How the day started? For years, Hubby would wish me at 12.01am on the dot. This time around he didn't. Or so I thought. Because I remember looking at the clock at 11.30pm and the next thing I know I woke up at 2.30am. Today rasa kecik la sikit hati sebab dia tak wish pun pagi. He wished me again at 10am and said - it's my 2nd wish today. Apparently he did wish me at 12.01am and I actually replied - Thank You! Wahhh... dalam tidur pun boleh jawab!

After Friday prayers, we went to Alamanda for my birthday lunch. Had nice meal at Madam Kwan's. Then, to MPH because Hubby wanted me to pick a book. Pusing-pusing tak jumpa pulak buku yang dicari. And maybe because I just bought a book last week - Haruki Murakami's 1Q84 which I have yet to read. I am at my 1…

Simply Pics

Letting the photos tell our story. Friday: I forgot to snap a photo of Aliyah after she finished her UPSR exam. This is the day after. A nice lunch at Subang Parade. Saturday: Painting the gates dark brown. Or rather, the actual name of the paint is Black Leather. Today: We spent some time with my parents. Bought a whole lot of little gifts for their birthdays (my mother on 13th and my father tomorrow - 17th). Took us about 2 hours to clean up their room. Then, some of us sat listening to some history facts by my father (as usual!), gawked on some old photos from the 50's (after Nizam brought up story about Arkib buying old photos), laughed at some 80's photos of us (teruk masing-masing kena kutuk - me in my early teens - aduss... kena ketawakan dek anak-anak sedara sebab ambik gambar pakai baju ala-ala cerita Azura, Nizam pulak baby photos dengan muka yang sangat determined dan nakal panjat trolley kat airport...). Lepas penat gelakkan semua orang, took my father out for lunc…

Some Work on the House

We spent Saturday working some DIYs on the house. Aliyah was with her Mak Long, so senang sikit kerja. Bukan apa, kalau dia ada, nak kena prepare meals. Bila berdua je, tak lah pikir sangat pasal makan. Morning, after late breakfast, we hit the hardware store to buy stuffs ie paint, brushes, etc. Then, went to place order to replace our auto-gate yang dah rosak sebelah tu. Petang we worked on the gates - Hubby sand-papered and then we painted them. Alang-alang nak replace auto-gate arms, might as well cat baru kan. Manual labour is so tiring. We finished the main gate and the side small gate just before Maghrib. Adoi, macam nak patah pinggang. Looked very nice actually :).
This morning pulak, we worked on the garden. The plan is to "overhaul" the garden. We wish to make it slightly maintenance free. Meaning - less grass. The plan is there, sedang usaha nak buat bit by bit. We started work last 2 weeks actually. Now, dah gali semua pokok-pokok yang dah huru-hara tu (sampai…

Day 3 of UPSR

Last day of exam and a very long one too. The papers were English (1 & 2), Science and Aptitude test, the latter started at 2.45pm and ended at 4.15pm. So, Aliyah spent the whole day at school. We thought of taking her out for lunch but she said - "cikgu tak bagi". Very well. So, we did our thing instead - which is running errands. Lots of places to go, mostly banks. Finally a long stop at my Angah's office to discuss stuff.

Witnessed a miracle in the act of giving unconditionally. Long story short - an orphanage needed money due to some mishaps (which Angah is a regular contributor), my brother down in cash at the moment, while contemplating got to know I was coming, got a bit stressed out because he thought I came over to discuss our business venture, promised the orphanage the last of his cash for this week anyway, I came with some cash instead (owed him a bit and also my portion for something we are contributing together), he finally got the sum enough for the or…

Day 2 of UPSR

Today Aliyah had only one paper - Maths 1. Me no stress anymore. It was very cold this morning, teruskan tidur lebih baik dari naik basikal. Hubby kata, bukan I kata. Anyway, we had to leave Aliyah with her Aunty Linda for our final meeting with lawyers handling the sale of our apartment. It took almost a year to settle. Such a long wait and mostly the delay by the buyer's bank (which funnily is also our bank). I guess departments and branches don't talk to each other. I am so grateful that we had such a good real estate agent and lawyer. They really helped.

While we were out, I prayed Aliyah revised her English and Science subjects for tomorrow. I had some sample papers prepared for her to practice. And also prayed that "Teacher Linda" will monitor her. Since she said she had revised the subjects at school, I didn't really pushed her tonight. Just some light reading and she was already sleepy.

Tomorrow is the last day. I pray everything will go well.

Day 1 of UPSR

Contrary to my belief, I actually slept quite well last night. I guess the worry exhausted me. This morning, after hugging and kissing and wishing Aliyah good luck, I could only pray Allah mudahkan urusannya hari ini. But at 7am, I got worried sick. Watched berita Awani - UPSR candidates to bring their ICs. Alamak, Aliyah kata cikgu dia kata tak payah bawak birth cert. Aduss... but I already told Aliyah, if the teacher asked for her birth cert, get the teacher to call Mommy. So I waited and waited dengan kecut perut till 8.30am. No calls from anybody. Maknanya OK lah tu. But still queasy. Lagi-lagi when I read FB status of an ex-colleague - his sons got kicked out from exam hall for making noise! Lagi lah kecut perut ni.

The day was then spent doing errands with Hubby - going from one bank branch to another tracing a cheque to us. By the time we finished it was nearly 1pm. Went to school a bit early to wait for Aliyah. I was so afraid I would find my daughter sitting outside the exam …

D-day for Aliyah

Anak nak exam, maknya yang nervous gitu... Finally, the D-day is almost here. Tomorrow Aliyah will sit for her UPSR exam. As usual, she is always very calm. Bila tanya, dia cakap nervous sikit. I actually have a feeling she is really nervous. Sebabnya - not long after lunch, she asked me to help out to make smores. Not long after that, dia belasah the crackers je. Emotional eater?

Usaha sudah, sekarang tinggal bertawakkal dan berdoa. Walaupun agak ralat sebab I just downloaded quite a few UPSR trial papers from other states yang banyak dan tak habis dibuat. I guess she has worked enough at school, and enough effort at home. Nak push lebih-lebih pun - it's UPSR, not the end of the world.

Last Sunday dah jumpa dengan Atok dan Wan dia mintak doakan. Atoknya pun dan buatkan air untuk kuatkan semangat. Psikologi tu!

Aliyah dear, Mommy doakan Aliyah ingat apa yang Aliyah dah belajar. Semoga Allah datangkan ilham dan idea semasa menjawab soalan. Semoga Aliyah berjaya menjawab semua soala…

Beberapa Hari Selepas Harga Minyak Naik

I tak ada komen banyak pasal harga RON95 naik 20 sen. Tapi sempat bersyukur yang Hubby dah complete his consultancy tenure at that particular company located in Kota Damansara. I cringe to think if he's still engaged to that project, the dent that the petrol hike would have on our household. Rasanya kenaikan harga minyak tak lah affect us that much - in terms of aktiviti mengisi minyak - sebab nowadays we only drive around Bangi dan kawasan-kawasan sekitarnya. Meetings pun around these areas. Alhamdulillah... So far lah.

But the first thing I thought of when the news came out was - how will it affect orang-orang yang memang dah sedia susah? I ni walaupun tak kaya, tapi tak lah susah (walaupun kadang-kadang susah lah juga), tapi ramai lagi orang yang lebih susah dari I. Yesterday, dalam my FB page, a friend yang memang agak well-off telah meng-upload gambar-gambar rumah terbuka yang dia pegi (some Datin's house siap laga-laga pipi dengan food yang sangat lavish) and just below …

Down Memory Lane

31st August always takes me down the memory lane. Every single year when the date looms, FB postings would focus on the day we performed for Merdeka Day years and years ago when we were in Form 4. Funny that all Form 4 students of my previous hostel - ATPN - were involved even though we were actually from different schools ie CBN, BBGS and Sri Aman.

There's something about performing for the whole country that leaves such a deep impact on our lives. So, even though it was 26 years ago (really???), the memory just floods back. And it's just so great that until now, we are still good friends. Sisters forever :)

On the topic of old friends, something amusing came up just yesterday. We are all in this FB group named "Geng Bas Sekolah". I don't know who created the group name. The members are the two KL Yayasan hostels - ATPN and ATDI (girls and boys hostels) class of 1988. Anyway, the police released 49 names of kongsi gelap in Malaysia recently and guess what - ops,…
