Bali: Sanur Part 4 - Beach & Shopping

Our hotel is about 5mins to the beach. Walked there after breakfast. Not the white sandy beach kind of place, more of a fishing village and spot for boats to pick up snorkelers. Nevertheless, still a nice place with beach chairs and umbrellas and mat sallehs sunbathing.

We spent the day walking along the Sanur road lined with hotels and shops. We did the hotel hopping again! It amazed me how they make their hotels so nice, clean, well-maintained and reasonably priced. One thing I wish to advice is - if you go to Bali, don't spend so much on hotels. Stay at small cheap hotels because their service is at par with the expansive ones, and just as beautiful. And you won't be spending so much time in your rooms anyway... Well, unless you are on honeymoon lah.

While hotel hopping we checkout the shops. We found this nice looking expansive souvenir shop selling everything at 50%. Crazy. Must be the low season. I didn't shop much. Budget pun low... and I'm not really a shopper during holidays. Mostly ikut Yatt because she actually brought an empty luggage bag to store her purchases! Itu pun bought things like crazy juga. I bought 3 pairs of sandals at about rm10 each - the ones yang ada intricate beads and labuci tu, yang normally pengantin pakai tu. Saja je...

We went to this boutique called Uluwatu which sells lace kebayas and silk sarongs. Yatt memang dah target nak pegi that shop. Gosh, very, very nice. Even though I said I'm not buying anything, the salesgirls persuaded me to try on the kebayas and taught us how to tie the sarongs. So nice... Kalau kat sini, tak nak beli jangan harap salesgirls suruh try! It was fun la juga since I tak pernah wear a kebaya. Wore it complete with frangipani hair clip and the salesgirls happily said we both look like Javanese ladies! Yatt bought the kebaya and the sarong for Raya.

We walked around until lunch, and then had another round of nasi padang. After resting (it's a waste to rest actually, but it was very hot and the heavy lunch made us both sleepy), we went another round of shopping. There are so many shops we couldn't possibly finish going to all in a day!
We then went to the beach to catch the sunset. Sanur beach doesn't have huge rolling waves because it faces another island, unlike Kuta which faces the Indian Ocean, so we didn't get to see surfers riding the waves. Still the beach at sunset was amazing. We can even see the volcanic mountains from a far. It's kind of sad that our holiday was almost over.

We finished of the night with complimentary dinner set. We ordered seafood, memang sedap... The price for each of our meal was about rm10-rm12 only, and we are talking about hotel restaurant.
