House Renovation: Week 21

It's finally completed yesterday. What a day. The day actually didn't start early enough. It's a school day so had to send Aliyah to my parents' place. Then we started cleaning up the house. The grill guys didn't show up, but it was OK because the only work outstanding from them is the installation of the iron rods. We can wait.

We actually didn't know where to start cleaning first. The workers have cleaned the rooms upstairs, however, the whole level was still quite dusty. Then Hubby and Miqdam tried to install the cooker but then found that it doesn't fit just by like one millimeter. It seems that nobody thought to test the size these whole time including us! So Miqdam had to go back and get the grinder. Oh no! The grinder! The tiles need to be worked on so the whole kitchen will be covered in dust (again!).

So, we decided to go back home, get some rest and ready ourselves for Report Card day. After fetching Aliyah from school (about her later), sent Aliyah back (again!) to my parents' place, we went back to the new house and started to clean up. The whole kitchen was still covered in dust and it was already 4pm. My father will be coming at 6pm to do "buka rumah". So I took upstairs and Hubby worked on the porch. I cleaned the toilets and mopped all upstairs bedroom. And then worked downwards - the stairs. By then the whole grinding work was completed and Miqdam engaged 3 more of his workers to clean the house.

Then Linda came at 5.30pm to put up the curtains while the workers worked outside. The tiles outside need strong chemicals to get rid of all the dirt. By the time my father reached the house, the rooms upstairs are all cleaned, the whole of downstairs also cleaned but needed some time to get dry. My father started with Azan at our bedroom, located the correct kiblat for all rooms and started on his rituals - ayat kursi, etc at every corner of the house. Then after Maghrib, recited Yassin and our house is now "officially opened".

We are so so happy. It's been months of work and today, finally, the house is completed (inside that is!). Today (come morning) we'll start moving some stuff over. My father pesan kalau pindah rumah, first must bring over the basic essentials for the kitchen eg beras, gula, garam and asam. Itu petua orang tua-tua semoga murah rezeki.
Our kitchen with the new curtains. Hubby puji the curtains yang Linda jahit. But then, ehem, siapa yang pilih kainnya kalau tak Hubby and me :) hehehe...
My father & Hubby performing Maghrib prayers.
The living room curtains - eyelet. We bought materials of same design but of two different colours - gold and maroon.
