I delayed writing about anak comel. I was afraid she suddenly called wanting to abandon everything and come back home. Which she actually did on the first night. Alhamdulillah we managed to calm her down and as of today, she seemed to have adjusted.
Anak comel registered at MMU Melaka on Tuesday. She's now on the last day of her "4-day Immersion Program". She actually received an offer from UiTM, however, we didn't accept due to the so very remote location. Bukan rezeki dia nak study di situ. So we fall back to Plan B - apply to these 2 places that we have researched earlier. She got accepted to both. After much thinking, discussions and solat istiharah on her part, anak comel finally chose MMU Melaka. Personally, I support the choice because I so wish for her to expose herself to a community of many different races. I don't think she has much experience in that previously.
The first night was quite eventful. She called us at almost 11pm crying, doubting whether it's the right decision. But it was a mixture of being tired (the program stretched from early morning to late at night), homesick, loneliness (no friends, only new friends she just met), scared (she doesn't have a roommate yet, but she managed to make friends with the girls next room and she bunked in with them). And to add to that, she received reminder to register from the 2nd place she applied, which is very near to home.
Anyway, she was better the next day. And she surprised both of us being so independent and grown up. On the 2nd day she called saying she wanted to change her program from Foundation to Diploma. She gave her reasons - the faculty briefing by the Dean and sharing session by alumni. Of course we supported her decisions. And the next day, after Hubbs told her she needed to go to the faculty admin office, she did everything herself - excusing herself from the activities, meeting the officer at the faculty office, fill in forms, going around to get signatures of her supposedly lecturers and even wrote an email (in quite a professional manner) to the Head of Program to request for a meeting to get her signature. This morning, she completed everything, submitted the exchange form to the office and now she's a Diploma student! Allah... it just touched out hearts that she has grown up in just a few days. So proud of her 😊
Anyway, today is the last day of her Immersion Program and insyaallah we'll be fetching her to spend the weekend at home. Big, big step for anak comel. Semoga Allah permudahkan segala urusan, lindungi dia dan semoga dia berjaya dunia, berjaya akhirat. Aminn...
