Day 1 - We Reached Penang

After the delicious meal at Kuala Sepetang, we continued our journey. Waze was such a big help to us despite me forgetting to increase my depleted mobile data. The notorious Penang traffic jam was kind to us and we weaved through to Batu Ferringhi. Another mysterious encounter happened. I sat behind Ies who was on the wheel, giving her instructions up to the meter. So there I was glued to Waze reciting - 300 meters, 250 meters, 100 meter, 50 meters... We were close to the placed we booked ie Holiday Homestay Apartment. Our car turned left to the road indicated with me saying - 30 meters... arrived at destination!

We looked to the front and fell silent. The road was a dead end, very quiet with bushes and trees up to the slope of a hill. And right under a tree among the thick bushes was a "small red house". Emm... a small Chinese shrine. Everybody looked at me. "It says here we have arrived", I said. Jay, who throughout our adventure was our Google master and the one who made the booking, called the owner of the apartment.

Apparently, the name Holiday Homestay was given by the owner. The apartment was located just next to the dead end ie the Sri Sayang Apartment! Hahaha...

We settled down and after Maghrib went for dinner. Honestly, we didn't feel comfortable walking along the road amongst the street vendors of Batu Ferringhi. The nearest food court didn't look too appealing. But we found a char kuey teow stall right infront of CIMB - International Char Kuey Teow. Well, not the dry Chinese style that I like but the gravy Malay style by a bunch of young Malay chaps. But very tasty. The air epal asam boi was to die for. The fried soft shell crabs were so delicious we just had to repeat order!

It then rained and we were stranded and drenched. We then ran to the CIMB building and finally found a cab. A very nice Abang who agreed to take all 5 of us. He was the first of the next few Penang locals who were so friendly and nice to us :).
 Penang here we come!
It was a 2-bedroom apartment. Very spacious with 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and even a washing area complete with a washing machine. Reminiscing our days at our hostel, and to make sure we have comfortable space for all 5 of us, we decided to join the mattresses (one king and one queen size) in front of the TV and crash there for the next 2 nights. We talked until the talking turned to snores. And we were up before 6am. Aliyah must think what crazy bunch of aunties she's traveling with!
Very nice view from the balcony. We could see the sea clearly and watch people paragliding and jet-skiing.
