Menarilah dan Terus Tertawa...

The last few days has been a time for reflection and deep thinking. From the crash of heli involving well-known VIP to the implementation of GST to the lavish spending of the Government regardless of how difficult time is right now. It all boils down to - "money". Yup, whether we like it or not, or whether we want to admit it or not.

If you ask me, GST implementation does affect us as a shop owner. Since 1st April, sale has been quite slow. We have less customers coming in. I personally know the feeling. Even I myself have been very, very cautious in spending. Bak kata my nephew Along Iwan, "nak beli air tin pun takut!". Memang takut :). But then, Malaysians are very well known as a bunch of forgetful people. We make noise for a while, then when another issue comes up, we move on to make noise about the new issue and totally forget the old one. So, in say 2-3 weeks' time, insyaallah, things will get normal.

However, my point actually is - money might look like everything but definitely not everything. In the end, you merely by yourself. No bodyguards, no expensive cars, no millions in the bank, not even your exclusive branded leather shoes. You bring nothing except your good deeds, and whatever sin you have committed. That's all.

So, when I look at photos people share on FB of new Government BMWs, the price of each can actually support 10 poor families of six for a whole year, I don't feel angry anymore. I only feel pity to those who have a hand on the purchase of the car. Because one fine day under the eyes of Allah swt, you have to answer to why oh why you spend the rakyat's money on such luxuries while there are still many who are homeless and poor.

The next time you see someone drives a fancy car, or sit comfortably at the back, with the Government crest on the plate number, don't get so hung up. Yes, there's a piece you are entitled to from that car, which in a way makes the person a thief. However, just think of all the responsibilities on that person's shoulders he or she needs to carry later on. After all, you are the one they call "orang dianiaya" and "orang dianiaya" doanya insyaallah dimakbulkan. Isn't that great? :)
