A Weekend of Eating Like No Tomorrow

It was a weekend of gastronomic pleasure, well, actually more of binge on food like no tomorrow. It started on Saturday with our annual buka puasa session with Zameen and his little family. For 3 years in a row, we had it at the Islamic Arts Museum restaurant. Excellent food, excellent place. The main attractions - lamb herbs and meatballs, and poached salmon. Like Zameen always said, "Makan salmon tu je dah break even!". They serve the salmon whole and we dig like crazy.

Come to think of it, we go there every year and watch each other's child grow. I remember when we booked the table with 2 high chairs. Then last year there was Mohram playing music and both our kids - Sarah and Syafiq Aiman stood up on the table and dance. This year they have grown up - Sarah is 5, Aiman is 4. They are almost the same height. This year no dancing on the table though. Both were so shy-shy cat. Then both fathers took out their PDAs and the kids started to scribble and compare each others' drawings. That broke the ice.

Aiman binging on a piece of chicken. Sui said he has never eatenlike that before. I guess he was just trying to "impress" Sarah!

On Monday we buka puasa at Residence Hotel Uniten. It was Along and Wani's birthday so Azah with the kids came (minus Azlan as he's playing music at The Palma Hotel). Last minute, Abah called from the masjid saying nobody came to pay zakat fitrah so he wanted to join. Alhamdulillah because he has never joined us for buka puasa at a hotel before as he always had to be at the masjid. So, there were about 11 of us.

Buka puasa with my brother - Angah's family is another annual event. This is also our 3rd year having it at Residence. Before that was at Equatorial Bangi but then one year they served roasted lamb on a platter instead of having it whole at the BBQ table, so Angah lost his appetite. At Residence, they had 2 whole roasted lamb and Angah was heaping up his plate like crazy. He wanted to go for his 5th helping when the chef spotted him and actually stared (dunno whether angry ka or amazed ka or amused), so he went the other way and took some soup instead. But then he went again and came back with this huge lamb spine and ate it with pleasure. The chef must have given up and gave him a treat.

The far right is my brother Angah. He and his boys are all roasted lamb lovers. I think the 4 of them actually finished off half of the lamb.
