Hot Date with Hubby

Hubby planned a secret rendevous just the two of us to Alamanda to buy Sarah's presents. Her birthday is this 19th - Thursday. So, yesterday afternoon we dropped Sarah at my mother's place and spent the next 4 hours finding her presents.

Actually Sarah has told us what she wanted so buying them was not that difficult. At first, she only wanted chewing gum. That's it! (I told Afu and Aimy and they really laughed their heads off). I asked her what she really, really want for her birthday and she actually said "chewing gum". Lain? "Chewing gum je," she said. (Punya la baik anak aku ni). She has always wanted to chew gum but we didn't let her. Nanti messy, kena kat baju satu hal pulak. After much insistance and arguments, hubby finally said she can but when she turn 5 years old. So, naturally that's what she wants for her birthday.

Then she saw the Barbie doll I bought for Wani and she added another item to her wish list: chewing gum and Barbie doll just like Wani's. The one I bought Wani was a cheap one - rm19.90 je, itu pun I traded it with rm10 voucher!. But Sarah being the nice Sarah said she wants exactly the same one. Then, another item was added - this teenage girl's book that has ribbons. We went to MPH one day and she saw the book. I can't even remember the title. So, that makes 3 items. Finally she added another one - a mechanical pencil she bought Along for his birthday. It is an rm1 pencil but she really liked it. So, for her birthday she wants: a chewing gum, the Barbie doll like Wani's, that girlish book and the short and fat mechanical pencil. So, off we went to buy her the presents.

Item 1: Barbie doll. The rm19.90 doesn't look right for the special occasion. Sarah loves those that you can press a button somewhere and something lights up. Once she tried the Repunzel Barbie doll - you press a button and the tiara lights up. Tapi punya lah mahal - rm79.90. We went round and round, finally we found a good bargain at Hamster - this Cinderella Barbie (mesti princess with a tiara - at her age everything is about being a princess) with a dressing table. Press a button, the dressing table lights up. Cheap - rm39. Stock clearance kot.

Item 2: Girlish book. After looking again at the book, we decided not to buy. Why? Because that's some stupid bimbo book - how to become popular or something like that, with all these illustrations of cartoon teen girls with ridiculous steps to do bimbo stuff. Straight out of movies by Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. Who would want their daughters to become bimbos? So, we bought this little plastic activity book that has stationery instead.

Item 3: the rm1 mechanical pencil. Scrapped this off. The ones left were so flimsy dengan eraser tercabut lah, sticker senget lah... Sebab murah sangat kot.

So, we are fully armed with presents to surprise her.

Anyway, back to the two of us going around - it was one of those rare times that we actually went out together without Sarah in tow. I dunno, maybe sebab dah lama tak keluar sama-sama it was surprisingly - nice. Ok, ok, it was like a hot date actually. We talked, we laughed, we held hands... a little touch on his arms... having his hands on my waist... I can't remember the last time we went out like that. Hmm... so there still is romance in our marriage. Hehee... Hubby said we should go out like that more often.
