Astro vs HyppTV

We no longer subscribe to Astro. Mulanya oleh sebab-sebab yang tertentu. (Ehem, ehem!) We had a little family meeting and decided to suspend Astro for some time. Personally, I have grown tired of Astro. The programmes are being repeated over and over again and there are advertisements (sometimes too much!). If you subscribe to movie channel, you can see a certain pattern. Kalau holiday season eg Christmas, end of the year, then you can watch quite good movies. But certain months, the movies shown just menaikkan blood pressure. And yang tambah menaikkan darah is the Malay channels. Too much programme yang tidak berkualiti dan asyik nak buat orang ketawa tapi tak kelakar (to us lah!). Balik-balik muka pelawak-pelawak yang sama. Rasa buang duit je bayar every month.

So we turned to HyppTV. For extra RM50 a month, besides Unifi yang Hubby dah upgrade that gives us Sports channel, we get almost all channels. Walaupun channels kurang dari Astro, tapi there are lots to watch. At any time kalau scroll the channels, I will find something to watch, unlike Astro dulu. Scroll dari start sampai hujung, patah balik dua kali, last-last bukak Astro Awani. What I like about HyppTV is they show both good programmes yang zaman dulu-dulu and also certain new programmes that are shown less than 24 hrs ago in US.

I now enjoy watching sitcom reruns like Friends, Frasier and Everybody Loves Raymond. Best, best. Baru minggu ni dah start ada Mind Your Language cerita zaman kecik-kecik dulu yang sangat hilarious. There's always something interesting on NHK channel. If you know me, I love Japanese culture. There are still cooking shows and last I check this morning, The Naked Chef is also on. Yeay, I love Jamie Oliver. Other show are Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Saturday Night Live - all recent ones. CSI (all 3 shows), Law & Order, Covert Affairs, just name it. And paling I suka Chinese, Japanese and Korean movies at Red and a few other channels.

Less is more. That's what I like about HyppTV. (Note: This is not a paid post!)
