One Year Already

Time flies when you are not doing much! End of last month marked our 1st year of residing at this new place. Alhamdulillah, we are doing very well here. Even though I masih belum lagi terjun dalam pool dan masuk gym pun boleh kira dengan jari! Never regretted our decision to sell the old house and buy this much smaller apartment. Just for fun, I'm listing 10 reasons why we love this place.

1. It's 1,055sqft but has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Having that extra bathroom is indeed a luxury! Semua orang ada so-called personal bathroom.

2. Since it's smaller than before, it really is manageable. No unnecessary or unused space. Vacuum rumah sekali jalan je.

3. We feel safe. There's double security where our visitors need to present QR code that we generate, and we have to fetch the visitors from the parking. We don't use padlock for our door pun. In fact, there were times that we even forgot to lock the door! Of course we can never be complacent.

4. We save a lot on electricity bill here. We don't need to switch on the lights at our entrance door because there are bright lights at the corridor, no need lights at the balcony because the outdoor lights at the common area are also quite bright. Since our unit is facing pool, our house is really cool. We don't need to switch on the air-conditioner much. For the living room, switching on one IKEA floor lamp is enough at night. However, we do fork out a little bit for water bill since it's considered a commercial property. But still, both electricity and water bills are much lower than before.

5. It's clean. We have cleaners who sweep and mop the corridors every other day, I think. So, our cleaning duty stops at our entrance area. A step outside is already the cleaners' responsibility. If we are not satisfied with the work, can always complain.

6. The view is fantastic. I just love the view of the common area - the pool, trees, the surrounding hills, the tiny KLCC and Merdeka Towers that are visible when the weather is clear. The clean air after the rain is really soothing.

7. The location is convenient. We chose this place because it's near to amenities - shoplots are just in front of the building. Lotus is less than 5 minutes away. We can even walk there. There are 99Speedmart, grocery shops, clinics, chic cafes, mamak and even kedai tomyam. All within walking distance. There's also Oasis Park where we can walk or jog around the lake.

8. Lots of natural lighting. I just love that I can put plants indoor. And the abundance of natural lights also means less usage of electricity.

9. I don't feel lonely if I'm alone. The place has people around but at the same time still gives me the privacy. We don't share our walls with next door neighbours because of the layout design. Of course there can be noise here and there - upstairs neighbour, doors being slammed, people talking at the common area but I guess they are tolerable. Our balcony sliding doors and windows are all quite sound proof so we can just close them when needed.

10. We don't have house loan anymore. We bought this place cash from the proceeds of selling our old house with enough to furnish the house. Since we agreed live as "minimalist", we don't install any unnecessary furnishings. I guess since it's already a year, it's a good time to do some audit to see what to keep and what to give away. I plan to do this every year!
