I took anak comel for a one-night trip to Ipoh just before she started her new semester. Just the 2 of us. Rasa macam nak try naik ETS and Ipoh is just about 2 hours plus away via train. Trip yang agak challenging, for her at least, because lots of walking, waiting, more walking under the hot sun, sitting for what seemed like endless hours in the train... I hope I managed to toughen her up a bit. For me, balik esoknya my sciatica terus flared up!
Day 1 (13 Mar 23):
We took the komuter from Bangi to KL Sentral. Had breakfast at Burger King there, tapau burgers to eat in the ETS (which really was not necessary at all because we didn't get hungry) and then waited at the lounge to board the ETS. There was a long line. Apparently, the route is a popular one and the train was almost full even on weekdays. We boarded the ETS at 11.30am and reached Ipoh at 2.15pm.
Ipoh was scorching hot when we were there. Good thing we bought matching maroon bucket hats to brave our way around! Anak comel suggested we check-in first at Cititel Express Hotel before having lunch. With the guide of Google Map, we walked to the hotel. Took us about 10 minutes. At first, we wanted to try Nasi Ganja but the place closes at 5pm (kata Google lah), so we decided on Nasi Vanggey instead. Kali ni naik Grab sebab jauh sikit.
We then took Grab to Concubine Lane.
We then went back to our room to rest. Honestly, Cititel Express Hotel is quite good. Our room was small but comfy. Dan yang bagusnya, TV channels dia walaupun tak banyak tapi sangat clear. Siap ada movie channels lagi. To me agak rare sebab the past few times we went for trips, TV channel selalu teruk.
Hotel ni sebelah saja dengan Padang Ipoh. So, for dinner, we walked to Miker Pizza yang terletak berdepan dengan padang tu. Reviews kata pizza situ sedap and we were not disappointed. Memang sedap. We had one regular pizza and it was enough for the 2 of us.
Day 2 (14 Mar 23):
Our breakfast was not that early sebab dah aim nak makan kat Ipoh Dimsum. Kalau Google kena cari Hibiscus Cuisine. I punyalah teringin nak makan Chee Cheong Fun tapi habis. But the waitress was kind enough to suggest another menu - fried radish cake. Surprisingly agak sedap.
Jadinya macam malas nak cari yang lain, terus cari jalan balik hotel. Masalah guna Google Map ni kadang-kadang dia macam gila kejap. At one point macam sesat sikit! Maybe ada tempat yang tiba-tiba tak ada data kot. Kena retrack dan search balik! But we managed to get back in time to refresh ourselves and check-out. Since our train is at 3.30pm, we have ample time to spare. So, we took Grab and hang out kat Ipoh Parade kejap.
Lepas solat, we went back to Padang Ipoh. Brader Grab pagi tadi suggest we try nasi kandar dekat situ instead of Nasi Ganja. Macam-macamla food dia suggest lagi. Tapi dah nak balik dah!
It was a nice trip for both of us. Maybe next time kena try Nasi Ganja juga lah!
Stay safe...
