Ipoh Trip

I took anak comel for a one-night trip to Ipoh just before she started her new semester. Just the 2 of us. Rasa macam nak try naik ETS and Ipoh is just about 2 hours plus away via train. Trip yang agak challenging, for her at least, because lots of walking, waiting, more walking under the hot sun, sitting for what seemed like endless hours in the train... I hope I managed to toughen her up a bit. For me, balik esoknya my sciatica terus flared up!

Day 1 (13 Mar 23):

We took the komuter from Bangi to KL Sentral. Had breakfast at Burger King there, tapau burgers to eat in the ETS (which really was not necessary at all because we didn't get hungry) and then waited at the lounge to board the ETS. There was a long line. Apparently, the route is a popular one and the train was almost full even on weekdays. We boarded the ETS at 11.30am and reached Ipoh at 2.15pm.

The start of our adventure.
McD was full so we opted for Burger King instead. My advice - give it a pass. Cleanliness is questionable.
On board the ETS.

Ipoh was scorching hot when we were there. Good thing we bought matching maroon bucket hats to brave our way around! Anak comel suggested we check-in first at Cititel Express Hotel before having lunch. With the guide of Google Map, we walked to the hotel. Took us about 10 minutes. At first, we wanted to try Nasi Ganja but the place closes at 5pm (kata Google lah), so we decided on Nasi Vanggey instead. Kali ni naik Grab sebab jauh sikit.

Our verdict - sedap! Quite different from the Penang style nasi kandar we are used to. A bit spicy for anak comel tapi I happy je. Nampak macam biasa je kan tapi serious sedap!

We then took Grab to Concubine Lane.

Ok, it's just a small side street saja.
Ramai juga orang hari Isnin. We walked around but didn't find anything interesting to buy. But anak comel did buy Mochi yang viral katanya. Sedap jugak.
We walked back to the hotel and stopped by at this ice cream place called BluezChic cafe. Anak comel makan fried ice cream. Macam sama je macam yang dia rajin buat dulu-dulu!

We then went back to our room to rest. Honestly, Cititel Express Hotel is quite good. Our room was small but comfy. Dan yang bagusnya, TV channels dia walaupun tak banyak tapi sangat clear. Siap ada movie channels lagi. To me agak rare sebab the past few times we went for trips, TV channel selalu teruk.

Hotel ni sebelah saja dengan Padang Ipoh. So, for dinner, we walked to Miker Pizza yang terletak berdepan dengan padang tu. Reviews kata pizza situ sedap and we were not disappointed. Memang sedap. We had one regular pizza and it was enough for the 2 of us.

We had Crazee Meat pizza. Again, nampak macam biasa saja tapi serious sedap! Meatballs tu naikkan rasa dia.
Padang Ipoh ni sangat besar. Ada 2 padang bola sepak. Malam-malam pun ada orang main bola dan jogging. Bagus juga kalau bawak jogging shoes dan jog kat sini.
Ini adalah toilet dia!

Day 2 (14 Mar 23):

Our breakfast was not that early sebab dah aim nak makan kat Ipoh Dimsum. Kalau Google kena cari Hibiscus Cuisine. I punyalah teringin nak makan Chee Cheong Fun tapi habis. But the waitress was kind enough to suggest another menu - fried radish cake. Surprisingly agak sedap.

We shared fried radish cake and various kinds of dim sum. Anak comel memang puas hati makan dim sum yang montel-montel ni.
We then walked in search of Mural Arts. Punyalah panas tapi gigih berjalan! I don't care, anak comel kena ikut. But I was quite disappointed because the murals we found was not as nice as the ones in Penang. Macam tak berapa 3D gitu.
Dia flat je macam ni...

Jadinya macam malas nak cari yang lain, terus cari jalan balik hotel. Masalah guna Google Map ni kadang-kadang dia macam gila kejap. At one point macam sesat sikit! Maybe ada tempat yang tiba-tiba tak ada data kot. Kena retrack dan search balik! But we managed to get back in time to refresh ourselves and check-out. Since our train is at 3.30pm, we have ample time to spare. So, we took Grab and hang out kat Ipoh Parade kejap.

Kasi can lah kat budak ni spend time tempat yang cooling sikit dan tengok barang-barang dia suka!

Lepas solat, we went back to Padang Ipoh. Brader Grab pagi tadi suggest we try nasi kandar dekat situ instead of Nasi Ganja. Macam-macamla food dia suggest lagi. Tapi dah nak balik dah!

We had Nasi Kandar Dato Sagor. Verdict - lebih kurang saja macam Nasi Vanggey semalam tapi yang ni macam lagi spicy! Semalam punya lagi sedap. Hahaha... anak comel dah merah muka makan.
Sementara nak tunggu pukul 3, we went to Old Town White Coffee yang selang beberapa kedai saja dari situ. Sebelah je dengan Miker Pizza. Anak comel makan roti bakar sebab dia still lapar. Nasi kandar Ipoh too spicy for her lah.
Finally we boarded the ETS back to KL Sentral. Berakhirlah food adventure anak comel and I. Sampai KL Sentral tengah peak hour juga. Another 30 minutes of waiting for Komuter train and another almost one hour of commute back to Bangi. Pengsan...

It was a nice trip for both of us. Maybe next time kena try Nasi Ganja juga lah!

Stay safe...
