Yes, It's a New House

Photos of my home look different. Yes, because it's not the same house. We have moved to a new home. Hubbs and I decided we need a smaller place years ago. I think when anak comel was in Form 5. We put our house on the market, people come to see, but it was not until last November that someone finally made an offer. At first we thought the process would take a long time. So, we delayed packing our things. But at the end of February, our lawyer messaged Hubbs saying the final disbursement was in and we had 7 days to vacate the house.

Who would have thought that we would manage to clear 14 years of stuff in just 7 days? It was tiring, exhausting, heart-breaking even. Every single stuff we gave away or threw away had such sentimental value to us. But then as my niece Ati said - "Hati kering je Ateh". Hubbs and I discussed, we were not sad leaving the house, but the memories that we made there had such profound impact.

Things were haywire starting that end of February. Alhamdulillah we found a new place and were allowed to move in immediately. So, we didn't need a transit place. However, the only furniture we brought from the old house were 2 study tables and 2 bookshelves plus boxes of kitchen stuff and clothing. We spent the first week sleeping on toto at the empty living room. Of course Hubbs made sure Internet connection was available the moment we moved in, so anak comel continued her online classes and Hubbs continued working from home. Just 2 weeks into Ramadan, our kitchen was finally finished and I could finally start cooking. That was the last straw to making the house finally functioning as a home.

The journey was long and hard but well worth it. I must say I am more at ease at this new place. It's a good place to start new and heal. Insyallah...

Farewell old house... We left it spotless for the new owner. We hope they will live happily and create good memories just like we did.

We sold it "as is" and fully furnished. The furniture we left are the ones the new owner requested to leave behind while others we either give away or had to dispose of.
Our bedroom...
Anak comel's room...
Our 3rd bedroom that really was underutilised.
Our 4th bedroom downstairs. Another underutilised room.
This kitchen has served us well...
I told Hubbs, this house is even cleaner when we left than when we were living there!
Our living room...
The patio where in the earlier days we spent hours sitting enjoying tea and cekodok while watching kois in the pond, and after that hours taking care of cats!
Our final steps at this house we used to call home... Farewell. Sedih tau...
Oh, that Oyen was with us the last days we were there cleaning and clearing. I hope he knows that we no longer live there...

The next phase of our lives is now spent in a 1044sqft apartment. So much smaller compared to our previous corner lot terrace 4 bedroom house.
Our view the day we received the keys to the apartment...

Insyallah we will create new memories here.

Stay safe!
