Finally Cured My SVT, Insyallah

I was diagnosed with SVT in July 2020. One fine afternoon, my heartbeat just went skyrocket at 190-185 without any reason. I tried resting but it didn't work. Anak comel was having her online class at that time, so I went to the clinic myself. All the while Hubbs was in close communication from his office. At the clinic, our usual doctor, Dr Faizah immediately wrote a referral letter to Hospital Serdang, at the same time scolding me for driving to the clinic by myself. Hubbs came home, took me to the hospital, and I was wheeled to the red zone. I was given an injection (so &%$#@ painful) that supposedly restarted my heart and after that my heartrate became normal. That's how I got to know that I actually have SVT.

The cardio specialist told me I might be born with the condition but when I was younger, I might not be aware of it and my heartrate became normal on its own. Bila dah tua-tua ni dia jadi degil sikit kot. I remembered I had one bout of SVT when anak comel was small. The GP at the clinic I went to sent me to An Nur Hospital. At the emergency unit, I was given pills to lower my heartrate. I was given 30 minutes tops. If it didn't go down, they will send me to Hospital Serdang via ambulance. Alhamdulillah it got better. I had a few appointments with the cardio specialist there and was told 99% chance was it has nothing to do with my heart. It might just be stress and he asked me to go for a vacation. I went to Bali with my friend Yatt 2 weeks later!

Anyway, I was advised to do the ablation procedure to cure the SVT but due to MCO it was delayed. When things started to get normal again, I decided to delay the procedure because I believe there are more serious cases than mine that I should give them the priority. But then, my SVT got worse. I started to get it more often and each time it took longer for the medication to work. I also started to get breathless even doing simple chores and I no longer could exercise. My last appointment with the cardio specialist - I needed to get it done. "Nanti jantung you boleh bengkak," she said. That scared the hell out of me and I agreed.

I had it done last month on the 6th. Honestly, it was so painful that if I could get up during the procedure, I would have run away! I was fully awake during the procedure. I could feel wires going around my heart while my heart got simulated to find that problematic spot. The procedure lasted 2 hours and I must say, it was the longest 2 hours of my life. After the procedure, I was not allowed to move or get up for at least another 4 hours. So, I spent the night at the ward.

Hubbs took leave to take care of me. Masa tu makan pun kena suap! At home, it took about 2 weeks to get better. I had to walk around slowly using a cane. For me yang jalan laju ni, I had a very hard time. It's been a month plus now and I have gotten better. Once in a while I do feel kind of a stabbing pain in my chest, but my SVT has gone (so far). I am still monitoring my condition. Alhamdulillah life has returned to normal and this month I even have started my 5km walk/jog.

Checked-in at daycare cardio unit
My first meal Hubbs suap after more than 24hours of fasting. Angkat kepala pun tak boleh!
The next day dah boleh senyum sikit!
My companion for about 2 weeks. Dah tua...
My first 5km after months of not exercising. Alhamdulillah tak rasa breathless macam dulu.
Warm down at the pool after another 5km session. It was such a nice day and nobody was around.

Alhamdulillah I had many people praying for my speedy recovery. You are always in my prayers. Sekarang tengah nak cari semangat turunkan berat badan pulak!

Stay safe ya!
