I'm just sharing my itinerary here. In case it can be of good use to those who wish to spend a short holiday in Georgetown, Penang and mostly binge on Penang food 😋. We drove to Penang and we started our journey from Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi.
Travel Penang:
Day 1
9.00am: Breakfast and then started our journey
Occasional stops at RnR for short breaks and snacks.
1.30pm: Reached Georgetown. Lunch: Nasi Kandar Tajuddin Hussain, Lebuh Queen. [Must try: Ayam Masak Ros]
2.30pm: Check-in at Neo+ Hotel [find cheapest price here!)
4.00pm: Walked around the area of old shop lots right to 1st Avenue Mall (my daughter can't resist malls!)
7.45pm: Dinner at Medan Selera Padang Brown. [Must try: Pasembur, Char Kuey Teow and Soup with Roti Benggali]
Day 2
8.00am: Breakfast near our hotel i.e. Nasi Kandar Kassim [roti canai with dhal and chicken curry gravy]
9.30am: Bukit Bendera. (Try to go early if it's school holidays or weekend). Desserts at Astaka. [Must try: the Mango Ice]
1.00pm: Lunch at Nasi Kandar Kassim. (We had it because it was near our hotel and we were too tired to go elsewhere.)
4.30pm: Walked around Chowrasta Bazaar. Snacked on Indian kuih-kuih and cendol by the roadside. [Must try: The stall just beside the police station. The uncle fries the kuih on the spot.)
[Must buy: jeruk buah. Not from Pak Ali because you can get it everywhere now. Try other shops.)
6.00pm: Late tea (I guess!) at Sup Hameed. We tried the one not far from Chowrasta i.e. Jalan Phee Choon. It's gerai by the roadside. I'm not sure whether it's the same one as the famous Sup Hameed. [Verdict: the chicken soup at Medan Selera Padang Brown was slightly better).
7.45pm: Dinner at Medan Selera Padang Kota Lama. We tried Char Kuey Teow, Sotong Kangkung and Mee Sotong.
Day 3
8.30am: Breakfast at Transfer Road. Worth the wait in the queue! [Must try: roti canai kari ayam and roti bakar telur goyang].
9.30am: Walked around the streets of Georgetown hunting for street arts. Ok, we just hunted for one!
10.30am: Visited the Hin Bus Depot art centre. (It's just opposite the road from Neo+ Hotel) There's a cafe there where the coffee smells heavenly. But we didn't get to try.
11.50am: Check-out and started the journey back home.
2.00pm: Lunch at Mee Udang Mak Jah at Kuala Sepetang.
Like I wrote before - so little time, so much to eat!
